Two Marquette Catholic teams competed Monday evening. Boys tennis hosted Michigan City, while girls soccer was on the road at Hammond Clark.
Boys tennis honored Senior Nathan Flores on senior night and were able to beat the cross town rivals, Michigan City Wolves, winning 4-1. The Blazers won in 1 singles, 2 singles, 3 singles and 2 doubles. The Blazers return to action on Thursday, September 26 at 5:00 when they travel to Andrean to take on the 59ers.
Girls soccer came out victorious tonight against Hammond Clark. The Blazers took an early lead with a goal by Maggie Mellen off of an assist by Sydney Snyder. Then just seconds before halftime, Mellen had a break away that she slipped across the box for Senior Madeline Wood to finish. In the second half, the Blazers let Hammond Clark back in when they quickly put away 2 goals to tie the game. However, the Lady Blazers never backed down and with 4 minutes remaining Mellen beat the keeper to easily place the ball in the back of the net. The Blazers will take the field again on Wednesday, September 26 at Wheeler. Kickoff is scheduled for 5pm. Go Blazers!
