Tryon Farm Training Runs and Trail Building March 2-3

Tryon-Farm-LogoThe organizers of the 2013 TRYON FARM TRAIL 5/10/50K RUN coming up this May 18th are excited by the response they are getting to their event which is now just its second year.

“Last year’s runners keep emailing me asking when they can sign up for this year’s event, and I am happy to tell them that the time is now,” says Tryon Farm Trail Run Director Will Noonan . Signup is open atwww.ultrasignup.com.

Tryon Farm is looking forward to an even bigger and more competitive run this year, and Noonan has just learned that the overall 50K winner from last year—Tammy Zack of the Wolfhound Racing Team---is back in the race. Noonan offers this bit of advice to all the gentleman considering the event, “Start training now! Tammy plays for keeps while making it look easy.” Her 50K run (31miles) of 5 hours 49 minutes and 13 seconds set the course record last year.

With that in mind, two training runs are scheduled on the TRYON FARM TRAIL for the mornings of SATURDAY MARCH 2 and SUNDAY MARCH 3 at 8AM CST. Feel free to run, walk, or hike and complete as many loops as you wish. Runners and walkers will divide up by pace and make sure that everyone has company on the trail. Kids are welcome, and it sounds like fun for the whole family.

Each day begins promptly at 8AM CST, and after the run, organizers will be asking folks to stick around if they have time to help do some trail building and maintenance to make this year’s course even better. The goal is to carve out more singletrack paths in the woods as that is the preference of many runners. Lunch will be served and participants will be able to tour two of the smart, modern MODERN COUNTRY HOMES on Tryon Farm. It should be a great weekend and you can let people know you are going and get more event details on Facebook.

50K OVERALL WINNER TAMMY ZACK

Noonan also mentioned that if you choose to skip the morning runs, and just want to work on the trails, the group will be trail building both days 9:30am–5:30pm CST.

The training runs are free, of course, and you are not required to be registered for the TRYON FARM TRAIL RUN to participate, but if you are planning to register and haven’t done so, make sure your do it quickly as all race fees go up on March 1.
