Valpo HRC Invites Applications for Community Cultural Educational Grants

The City of Valparaiso’s Human Relations Council invites the community to apply for its new Community  Cultural Educational grants. “We are looking to support events or efforts that further the mission of the  HRC, which is to increase awareness, appreciation and dialogue among diverse and traditionally  underrepresented groups, such as race, religion, national origin, age, gender/gender identity, sexual  orientation, veteran status and individuals with disabilities,” said Alison Quackenbush, Valpo’s HRC  President. “This grant is designed to spark ideas and support efforts that advance inclusion and  education, whether that’s in programming, events or other outreach,” she said.

The $10,000 grant pool is funded by the Valparaiso Mayor’s Office, to be disbursed in the form of  matching grants ranging from $500 to $2,000 per project. “The City of Valparaiso supports efforts that  promote inclusion and these funds are designed to help our HRC in their valuable work. We applaud  the ongoing efforts of this important council,” said Mayor Jon Costas. The plan is for grants to be  awarded twice annually. This first cycle is now open, with applications due on April 30.

How to Apply
The HRC Community Cultural Educational Grant program is open to any resident of Valparaiso,  nonprofit corporation with a 501(c)(3) designation, unincorporated association, and educational  organization so long as the project for which funding is requested serves a nonprofit objective related  to education/cultural inclusion.
