One of the most common summertime goals for many people is to have an opportunity to watch a sunset. People who go to Sunset Grille in Michigan City get to admire a glorious view of one above Lake Michigan every night.
Michael Garcia, general manager, shares that Sunset Grille has a special flare for people who live in the Region as well as tourists from across the world.
“It’s special because we are the only restaurant and bar that you’ll find on the beach,” Garcia said. “We have people who come here from all over the country. We create a casual, family-friendly atmosphere for the customers. It’s a relaxed beach environment with spectacular cocktails, tasty appetizers, and an excellent all-you-can-eat buffet with desserts and fruits.”
Sunset Grille is in the perfect location for people to check it out after visiting places like the Old Lighthouse Museum, Washington Park, the zoo, or the beach. Garcia notes that this makes Sunset Grille a prime destination for so many visitors, especially those who spend the day along the shoreline.
“At Sunset Grille, we have a spectacular view of Lake Michigan as the night gets closer,” Garcia said. “We draw a lot of people in to watch the sunset and make new friends. It’s the finishing touch and the ultimate addition to the experience.”
One of the coolest features at Sunset Grille is the rooftop experience. Customers are not only treated to a unique menu while they admire the sunset, but they also get a front row seat to several entertainment events put on at the restaurant.
“During the day, a lot of our customers will spend time trying our concession food or hanging out at the bar,” Garcia said. “Once it turns to evening, they’ll hang out with us on the rooftop where we have live entertainment. The memories and relationships that I’ve been able to build with my customers and the staff on the rooftop have been incredible.”
Along with the live entertainment, the rooftop experience also includes a Wednesday tradition of karaoke for customers. The restaurant also hosts major special events, ranging from annual 4th of July festivities to international events. This includes the Singing Sands Sand Sculpting Festival and the Great Lakes Grand Prix boat race weekend.
“Under our new management, we have formed a team that strives to provide nothing but excellence for our customers,” Garcia said. “From our live events to the breathtaking sunsets that we have here every night, this is truly an awesome place to be.”
Garcia is optimistic about the restaurant’s future and can’t wait to see so many new faces as the summer nears an end. Sunset Grille’s last big event of the season is Oktoberfest, which runs from August 30 until September 2. Garcia notes that there will be three stages with bands lined up and three full bars for the customers. He’s excited about the festivities and hoping for a strong turnout once again.
