Crafting high-quality plastic films and other products requires expertise and hard work, and American RENOLIT decided to show its appreciation for its employees’ dedication through a family day at the South Bend Cubs on July 20. This will be the second year in a row that American RENOLIT has hosted this event at the South Bend Cubs. While American RENOLIT hosted its family day at various locations like Zao Island in the past, the company decided to host this year’s family day at the South Bend Cubs after families had a blast at the venue in 2023.
“We really enjoyed it the first time; it was a great time for everybody’s families to come out,” Melissa Gruber, human resources director, said. “There is something to do for everyone, even if you’re not as interested in the baseball game. We have face painting, a photo booth, and the glow necklaces. There is something for everybody to do.”
American RENOLIT families met at the United Federal Credit Union Rooftop next to the left field of the baseball diamond, giving them a birds-eye view of the game between the South Bend Cubs and the Quad Cities River Bandits. Watching the game together was only one of the entertainment options in store for employees and their families. No celebration is complete without food, and American RENOLIT delivered with a barbeque buffet featuring pulled pork, brisket, hot dogs, mac-n-cheese, chips, and popcorn.
Kids were certainly included in the fun on family day. Upon entry, kids received a wristband that allowed them to explore the various bounce houses and inflatables inside the park. To help both kids and adults make fun, colorful memories, American RENOLIT ensured families were able to enjoy getting their faces painted, crafting glow-stick necklaces and bracelets, and taking pictures at a photo booth.
“I've enjoyed getting to meet and know all the families of the people I work with,” Lenny Spurr, color matcher, said.
Underneath the excitement about the baseball, barbeque, and bounce houses, the connections between coworkers set the tone for the event. Being able to connect outside of their typical work setting and speak with coworkers they may not see on a regular basis helped American RENOLIT employees savor the evening and leave feeling happy and refreshed.
“We like the opportunity for everyone to get together, to meet their families, and to interact,” Gruber said. “I think it’s so important. We are a family at work, but we can expand that to include everybody’s families.”
