Are you exhausted after waking, or keeping your bed partner up at night with your loud snoring? You may have undiagnosed sleep apnea.
According to the National Institutes of Health, people with sleep apnea are unable to get the oxygen their bodies require, which prevents them from getting a restful night’s sleep. Untreated sleep apnea can increase your risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks, diabetes, strokes, weight gain and headaches.
To learn more about sleep apnea and how it may be putting your health at risk, join board-certified pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine specialist, Marvi Bikak, M.D., as she leads Northwest Health’s next HealthyU wellness seminar entitled Sleep – Your Health Depends On It. The free event will be held from Noon to 1 p.m., on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte, 140 East Shore Parkway in La Porte.
During the talk, Dr. Bikak will explain how sleep apnea is diagnosed and the treatment options that can restore healthy nighttime breathing, and a good night’s sleep.
HealthyU is a new wellness series developed by Northwest Health to provide the community with relevant health and wellness topics. The free monthly seminars are geared to answer you and your families’ questions and provide simple and actionable steps to improve your quality of life and help you stay healthy.
