Kids at Hall STEM Academy in north Minneapolis are getting a lesson in outdoor fun.
For the school’s annual Field Day event, several University of Minnesota student-athletes were on site to help coordinate activities and invoke a little friendly competition with the elementary students. The university marching band, as well as the “Goldy” mascot, joined in the fun, as well.
Participation by U of M student athletes was made possible through a collaboration between UnitedHealthcare and Gopher Sports. In addition, the school was able to utilize its new Dream Court, completed earlier this year thanks in part to a UnitedHealthcare donation to the NCAA Women’s Final Four Legacy Program.
The Dream Court features markings for a traditional basketball court, pickleball courts and tennis. It helps give the students — and surrounding community — a safe space to stay active.
