A Michigan City favorite: Patrick’s Grille

If you are looking for a great spot for a bite to eat while visiting Michigan City, Patrick’s Grille is a local favorite that will not disappoint.

Whether you are looking to stop for a quick lunch while passing through on US 20, or want to celebrate a special occasion, Patrick’s Grille has something for everyone. The warm atmosphere and full menu offers customers a great spot for a night out. General Manager Julie Krause shared that there are a few customer favorites on the menu that keep people coming back.

“We have surf and turf on Tuesday nights that people really like,” said Krause. “Our BBQ ribs are also really popular.”

In addition to the fan-favorites, customers have a full grill menu to choose from, including another popular item, the NY steak sandwich. The perfectly cooked-to-order steak, served open face on buttery french bread, is topped with beer-battered onion rings and served with your choice of side, although Krause shared that the sweet potato tots are also a popular pick. If you are looking for something lighter, there is also a great selection of salads and appetizers offered as well.

If you enjoy a good cocktail with your meal, Patrick’s Grille has a full bar menu to choose from. With 24 beers on tap, you can enjoy an $8 beer flight, or if you find yourself there on a Thursday, then drafts are buy one get one free. If beer isn’t what you are looking for, the bar offers a large selection of cocktails including a martinis, mules, and even mocktails. One of the most popular specialty drinks offered is the blueberry crush. The refreshing blend of blueberry vodka, blueberry syrup, and lemonade is available every day, but is also part of the Wednesday specials for $5.

Patrick's Grille Owner Patrick Wilkins developed a love of restaurants during his travels as a business owner and decided that he wanted to open a restaurant of his own. Patrick’s Grille opened in 2015 and Krause has been with them from the beginning. She has known Wilkins from her time working in catering at Pottawattomie Country Club and kept in touch with him, and several of their past colleagues including Patrick’s Grille chef Rick Bruggeman, over the years.

“We all met up from time to time to keep in touch. Patrick had mentioned how great it would be to open his own restaurant and reunite us all again. He made that happen within four years," Krause said.

Krause shared that event space and catering are also available through Patrick’s Grille for your next celebration. The private space, The Beacon Room, holds up to 40 people and is the perfect spot for any bridal shower, baby shower, birthday party, or celebration you have coming up. If you are entertaining a larger crowd, catering is available for weddings, corporate events, and social events.
