What made 2021 so entertaining? It was theatre productions, annual festivals, community events, 5Ks, holiday celebrations, art shows, parades, and so much more. No matter the occasion, the Region knows how to keep the fun alive and bring people together to make memories, and this past year was no different.

In no particular order, here are the top 10 entertainment articles from LaPorteCounty.Life in 2021:

Fiddlehead’s Jake Howard: master bartender, positive influencer, and international rockstar

Jake Howard, head bartender and vital team member at Fiddlehead in Michigan City, has always thought he’d make a great bartender. “It seemed like it would be a fun job from the outside, so I thought I would give it a try, and it is great fun. I like being able to turn a person’s frown upside down. I love a good drink myself, so I know how much that can help a day's progress,” said Howard.

It was one of many events happening this summer at Sunset Grille. 

City of La Porte kicks off summer event season with Friday Night Live ‘50s Night

“When's the last time you’ve seen so many smiles? It's pretty amazing,” said Indiana State Representative Jim Pressel.

Smiles were abundant in Downtown La Porte on Friday night for the first big event hosted by the city post-pandemic. The City of La Porte held one of the first of its Friday Night Live series of events, which was ‘50s themed. The event boasted live music by Spike and the Spitwads, a live Zumba event with Gail Beal, a 1950s costume contest and car show with the Westville Lions Club, and many small business vendors at the corner of Lincolnway and Monroe Street in Downtown La Porte.

La Porte High School’s (LPHS) young thespians took the stage on Friday night for the opening of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.” The production details the story of a young man on the autism spectrum as he engages in a hunt to unveil the murderer of a neighbor’s dog, navigates familial drama, and battles his own personal challenges.
