The Purdue Northwest men's basketball program (4-8) jumps back into conference play Thursday as they welcome in the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals (3-8) to the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex. Tip-off will be 7 pm (CST).
LAST TIME OUT PNW was defeated 97-61 in an exhibition contest on Dec. 29 against D-I foe Valparaiso. Chandler Spring knocked five three-pointers and finished with 15 points and Rich Robertson added 12 in the losing effort.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS Saginaw Valley State enters Thursday's contest with a 3-8 record and are coming off a 69-63 home loss on Dec. 30 against D-III Olivet College. Forward James Toohey had a career-high 27 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
SERIES HISTORY VS. SVSU The only game between these two programs came last season in Saginaw. Despite a double-double from Lukas Vilkovsky and 17 from Rich Robertson, the Cardinals hit a jumper with two seconds remaining to secure a 73-71 victory.
