When La Porte Chrysler salesman Gary Morefield was a young man, he spent a lot of his time meandering around the sales lot at the company where. In a few decades, he would be working. His fondest memories of his company are of when the former salesmen were patient enough to let “a kid with no money and a lot of dreams” tire-kick and check out the cars.
Today, Gary Morefield works and thrives at that very dealership. After working at Honda in Michigan City for five years, owning Shooters Bar and Grill for fifteen years, and even working as an onsite manager at Great Western in California, Morefield found his way back to La Porte Chrysler. In fact, he even chose La Porte Chrysler over other opportunities because “there are a bunch of great guys working [there] who are very customer-oriented, which is very important in business.”
La Porte Chrysler’s approach to business in general enticed Morefield as well. The dealership’s “let’s make the customer happy and sell some cars,” attitude nabbed Morefield just as it did La Porte Chrysler’s many other dedicated customers. Morefield can assure that customers “will be treated fairly and will feel absolutely no pressure in purchasing their vehicles.”
His four-and-a-half years at La Porte Chrysler have embedded this attitude in him, and those years have also given him the opportunity to put his passion for cars to good use. Morefield is specifically able to do this thanks to the 2017 lineup. “I have seen the Chrysler product go through a lot of changes through the years,” said Morefield, “The new lineup is very exciting and is definitely competitive with all other automakers.”
Throughout his time at La Porte Chrysler, Morefield has also learned that the dealership’s owner, Robert Magnuson, is truly what makes La Porte Chrysler unique compared to other dealerships. To Magnuson, though, Morefield is capable of making just as big of an impact on the company. “Gary is a great guy. He’s honest, trustworthy, and a great worker. I’m really glad that he’s here,” said Magnuson.
Aside from working at La Porte Chrysler, Morefield enjoys maintaining his house, playing golf, shooting darts and spending time with his family. “I have six grandkids that I love very much and a beautiful wife, so I would say my family life is pretty darn good,” said Morefield.
Morefield loves his family and has a job at a company that has been a part of his life for decades, so the life he dreamed of having when he was a mere tire-kicker has come into fruition.
