La Porte Educational Development Foundation Tailgate Cookout
Come share in the fun with your friends and family before the first home game of the year between La Porte and Hobart on Friday, August 26th from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Handley Elementary parking lot. In addition to the food there will be fun games, a dunk tank, candy sale, and a visit from the LPHS cheerleaders.

40th Annual Pork Fest
Still Getting Dirty South of 30 for 40 years. August 27, 2016 makes the 40th annual Porkfest in downtown Kouts. Events will be happening all day throughout the downtown area. There is something for everyone of all ages in your family. A few highlights will be the Country Classic 5K run, Porkburger eating contest, Hammy Award presentation, Parade, Kids area with bounce houses, Tie dying tshirts, and live entertainment all day. Don’t forget to sign up for the Corn Hole Tournament or Guess the Weight of the Pig contest.
Battle of the Bands Exhibition
Gary, Indiana will host its first Battle Of The Bands exhibition showcasing three (3) Historical Black Colleges and Universities on August 27. Kicking off the inaugural Band competition and exhibition this year will be Grambling State University of Grambling Louisiana, Mississippi Valley State University of Itta Bena Mississippi and Alabama State University of Montgomery Alabama. Battle of the Bands will be held on August 27 with a parade starting at 8:00 am at the Genesis Convention Center travelling East to the Railcats Stadium. Showtime is 10:00 am and gates open at 7:30 am.
Fox Park Music Fest 8
Gates open at 10:00 a.m., music starts at 11:00. Come join us for a day of good music, good food and good fun in a family friendly atmosphere. Bring the kids, bring your chairs (sorry, no outside food or drinks allowed, also no pets) and spend the day, we'll be there until midnight. Food vendors, beer garden, bounce houses, face painting. Prestige College of Beauty will be on site providing hair cuts and hair chalking for donations.All proceeds go to support our local veterans, active duty and those less fortunate.
Disc Golf at Countryside Park
This 33-acre park site is located in the southwestern part of the city, along U.S. 6, just east of County Line Road. Countryside Park features a playground, sledding hill, picnic shelter, softball field, and a fishing pond. The park also has access to the Prairie Duneland Trail which passes along the southern boundary of the park.
Tomfoolery with M&R Rush at The Pav
Comedy and music combine for a great time at The Pavilion at Wolf Lake. Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the Hammond Port Authority are proud to announce an evening with The Tomfoolery Comedy Club along with local legends, M&R Rush. Head to The Pavilion at Wolf Lake on Saturday, August 27th as the Tomfoolery Comedy Club joins M&R Rush for an evening of good times and great music. Tickets are $10 plus tax. No outside food or drinks permitted. Beer garden and food vendors available. Free parking. Bring your chairs and blankets for seating.
6th Annual Valpo Night Ride
The 6th annual Valpo Night Ride organized by the Valparaiso Parks Department and the city’s Pathways Committee is August 27, 2015. The 15-mile organized bike ride, which starts and finishes at the Butterfield Family Pavilion, allows participants to ride around the city at their own safe pace with volunteer and police support along the course. A mid-ride snack will be available at Central Park and after-ride refreshments will be served at the Butterfield Pavilion.
