25th Annual Lakefront Festival
Mark your calendars & Join us for our 25th Annual Lakefront Festival! It takes place Thursday August 18th - Sunday August 21st. Rockin' Live Entertainment, Great Food Vendors, Craft Vendors, Family Fun, and a Beer Garden! Events include the Cardboard & Duck Tape Regatta, Hobart Chamber Pig Roast, and Hobart Community Foundation Dam Duck Race!
Tour de La Porte
Tour de La Porte is a bike ride, running and walking event to benefit patients with cancer in our community. One hundred percent of the funds are used for direct patient assistance and cancer screenings to members of our community.
Taste of East Chicago
Join Mayor Anthony Copeland and the East Chicago Marina for the Annual Taste of East Chicago festival and concert at Jeorse Beach, 3444 Aldis St, East Chicago, IN 46312 behind Ameristar Casino! This year marks the 20th year anniversary of our festival. Beginning Friday, August 19th, 20th through Sunday 21st East Chicago Lakefront Jeorse Park Check out the Annual Taste of East Chicago at the beautiful and newly redeveloped Lakefront in East Chicago. East Chicago residents and visitors can enjoy a weekend filled with the aroma of culinary fare.
Chicago Street Theatre Presents “Harriet the Spy”
A favorite children's book comes to life on stage to tell the story of an 11-year-old aspiring writer named Harriet M. Welsch, whose journal of mean observations about her peers falls into the wrong hands and mayhem ensues. Can Harriet survive 6th grade and her classmates' all out attack to catch the young writer that they've dubbed a "spy?"
Wishing Wells Cancer Foundation’s 2nd Annual Party in the Park

Car wash to help off set expenses of tournaments and other things related to the bowling team (at Willowcreek Middle School)
Sauers Car Show & Family Fun Fair
Sauers Buick GMC will be holding their 12th Annual Car Show and Family Fun Fair from 9:00am to 3:00pm(cst) on Saturday, August 20th at their location at 1900 East Lincolnway in La Porte. The event is free to the public and will feature tons of fun things to do including: games, food, a bounce slide, dunk tank, a bounce house and carnival rides, as well as raffles going on all day long! The proceeds from this years Car Show and Family Fun Fair will go to benefit the Salvation Army and fight hunger in La Porte County. Bring 10 or more non-perishable items and you will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win a $50 gas card.
Dance the Night Away
The Whiting Park Festival Orchestra and Chorus will really kick up their heels for the third concert of the 2016 summer series, taking place Saturday, August 20th at 7:30 p.m. "Dance the Night Away" is a musical salute to dance in all its form. From spirited Spanish dances to the stomping rhythms of Irish dance, this performance has it all! Included in the program, along with sweeping waltzes and spritely polkas by Johann Strauss, Jr., will be tangos, ragtime, and multiple selections from 'A Chorus Line' and 'Grease'. A Whitney Houston salute including 'Queen of the Night', 'I Have Nothing', 'I'm Your Baby Tonight', and 'Greatest Love of All' will round out the program. Don't miss yet another spectacular Summer with the Symphony performance in Whiting Lakefront Park!
