2016 Vikings on the Run was a Huge Success

Joy-Elementary-Vikings-on-the-Run-Collage-2016On the morning of Saturday, May 7th, 2016, students, staff and members of the community gathered together on the grounds of Joy Elementary School, to run for a great cause! The Vikings on the Run Fun Run and 5K- was presented by the parent teacher organization of Joy School called the Joy School Association. The event was also sponsored by a few local businesses, and the team at Joy Elementary School. Those who attended braved the cold and a short stint of rain to complete the fun run and walk as well as the 5K. There were a total of 118 registered participants.

Following all of the events, an awards ceremony took place to honor the top male and female overall 5K finishers in addition to the three fastest competitors in each age category, male and female. Viking Captain Ed was in attendance and cheered the Kids and Fun Run participants through their mile race, Mrs. Suter, Joy Elementary Schools Principal, was at the finish line to congratulate both Fun Run and 5K Finishers! It is the intention of the Joy School Association to carry this on event from year to year, in order to raise fund to keep the grounds and playground equipment up to date and looking beautiful.

The Joy School Association and the Joy Elementary School Team would like to thank all of the businesses, members of the community and volunteers that made this event the success that it was. We look forward to a bright future of serving the leaders of tomorrow.
