Donors continue to respond generously to LaPorte County Habitat's 2016 Challenge Match.
"We have received nearly $14,000 in matching funds from individuals, businesses, churches, civic groups and foundations," says Bob Long, Executive Director. "We have reached 40% of our goal of $35,000.
The 2016 Challenge Match began in response to an offer from an anonymous donor to pledge up to $35,000 for home construction for this year. The donor requested that Habitat raise an equal amount from the community.
Construction will begin in late Spring on the new Habitat Home on Park Street in LaPorte. Long notes that the potential funding of $70,000 will cover the cost of the home.
"The challenge will continue throughout the year until our goal is reached," Long says. "Gifts of any size are very much appreciated."
Gifts may be mailed to LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 8874, Michigan City, Indiana 46361-8874. Credit card gifts may be made online through www.laportehabitat.org/Donate
