Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce hosted their 41st annual golf outing at Beechwood Golf Course Thursday afternoon. Chamber members and other community members gathered together for a good time eating, networking and playing golf.
Bert Cook, Executive Director of the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation (GLEDC), said, “There is always a great turnout at this event, and I love taking the time to meet with everyone and catch up with all of La Porte’s local businesses and chamber members. These types of social events make for a way to reconnect, develop and maintain relationships.”
In attendance were local businesses with multiple representatives. Some teams included Purdue University North Central, Horizon Bank and 1st Source Bank.
Businesses such as ServPro, La Porte Savings Bank, Purdue Federal Credit Union and IU Health La Porte Hospital each sponsored a hole. The proceeds from this outing were allocated to the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce.
The Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce recently received a five star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Only one percent of the chambers across the country have this distinction.
“It has been a good year for us. The money earned from today will go towards the operating expenses of the chamber, so we can continue to provide good programs and services for our members,” President of La Porte Chamber, Mike Seitz, said.
During registration, golfers also had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets or win door prizes. Prizes raffled off vary anywhere from golf balls to an overnight stay at Blue Chip Casino, Hotel and Spa. Winner will be announced at a banquet later this evening.
Before the teams headed out on the course Seitz read the rules to each golfer. Some of these rules included a two putt maximum and separate tees for men and women. Each individual golfer was also allowed five mulligans.
There were also contests including a long-drive contest, a hole-in-one contest and a closest-to-the-pin contest, taking place on multiple different holes across the course.
Mike Seitz said, “The staff put together and organized the golf outing today. As always, they did a good job, and we are very fortunate. We are very lucky to have a great staff and board of directors that work together to put things such as this golf outing together. I love meeting all of the people and connecting with them at a beautiful golf course such as Beechwood.”
